Designing the Forge Framework: Integration Without the Lock-in
The Forge Framework is the connective tissue between our products. Here is how we are thinking about it — and why it is opt-in, not bundled.
The Forge Framework is the optional layer that lets Forge products share a source of truth. FieldForge and InventoryForge sharing parts. TrainingForge pulling live roles from FieldForge. SiteForge surfacing availability on a franchisee site.
Two design rules are keeping us honest:
- The Hub is never required. Each product has to stand on its own.
- You activate the connections you need, and you pay for those — not the ones you do not.
The temptation with a product family is to bundle the integration and call it a platform tax. We are resisting that. The Hub should feel like plumbing you chose to install, not a surcharge you inherited.
